Lake Somerville State Park
Photos and travel narration by Jenny Rasmussen July 5, 1999

I'll admit that I am obsessed with watching this bird.  This is a Great Egret, the largest white heron.  You can tell it is a Great Egret because of the yellow bill and black legs and feet.  (The Snowy Egret has a black beak, and black legs with yellow feet).
It's soooo cute.  Just quietly standing there waiting for a fish to come close-by.
Away she goes!  Back to the nest on top of a very tall tree.

This was my favorite lake of the ones I went to today.  I really enjoyed swimming in it.
